Ladies’ Billiards thrives at Cypress Village

Article from The Recorder
Cypress Village’s Ladies’ Billiards group brings camaraderie and friendly competition to the main lobby every Tuesday morning. Founded just a few years ago as life began returning to normal after COVID, the group was inspired by a similar men’s gathering, but with a distinct twist.

Initially founded by Ann Hopkins, Asha Gupte, Carmen Von Soosten and Susie Alderman, the Ladies’ Billiards group has since grown to around eight-to-10 regular players. Alderman and a co-founder organize scorecards and badges, and oversee the games, keeping the spirit light-hearted and fun.

Each year, they host the Annual Ladies’ Billiards Banquet, complete with trophies and prizes, a testament to the dedication and enthusiasm of its members. For the first time, the group even ventured off campus to Q Billiards in Jacksonville Beach, marking a memorable field trip. Whether they’re practicing or playing a variety of games based on the turnout, these women gather not only to play but also to celebrate friendship and community.
